Brooke Burr has over 16 years of experience in residential real estate and both national and international executive relocations. She is a Realtor and is a member with the following associations: NAR, NCAR and WSAR. She holds a North Carolina real estate broker's license and is a partner in the firm Leonard Ryden Burr Real Estate. Brooke graduated from Salem College in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics Management. Prior to her career in real estate, she worked in the trust departments at Wachovia Bank, NCNB (now Bank of America) and Michigan National Bank. She has been married for 26 years to Senator Richard Burr, now in his freshman term in the United States Senate. They are parents of two sons and are members of Centenary United Methodist Church. She is a member of an International Club which includes developing
friendship within a multitude of cultures in the Washington, D.C.
community through embassies, elected officials and community leaders. Brooke currently serves as a member of the Poor and Needy Division Advisory of the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust. She also serves on the Advisory Board of the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Cancer Center and the Greater Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; She is a former member of the Board of the Augustine Project, an outreach ministry of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. The Augustine Project trains volunteers and provides free tutoring to low-income, academically at-risk youth. Brooke has formerly served on the following Boards of Directors: The Junior League of Winston-Salem, The Special Children's School, Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County and the Winston-Salem State University Board of Trustees. She was instrumental in founding the North Carolina Triad Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, in alliance with colleague Pam Versaggi and two other friends. In 2008, Brooke received the Triad Business Journal's Women in Business Award. |
